Frames is a set of seven piano miniatures. Each movement is highly focused, drawing on limited musical material and focusing on pure exposition of a single concept, rather than extended development. The miniatures explore a varied array of colours and moods, ranging from the dark register of Rift through to the sparkling virtuosity of Flight. The set is framed by the shared musical material and pitch centre of the Prologue and Epilogue.
